A beaten trail, that passed through Ura to Gayzamchu in Bumthang, was once trodden by villagers from the east to transport goods offered as taxes to local chieftains resident in Bumthang, Trongsa, and Punakha. In the 50s, the people of Ura used the path as a mule track to barter butter, betel nuts, and clothes.

The Jakar Tshechu in Bumthang, which was scheduled to be held from the 6 to 9 November, 2008 will be held from the 29 to 31 October, 2008. The original dates were found to be clashing with the Coronation Celebrations.
Revised Tariff For Tourists for 2009
As per the decision taken during the 4th TCB meeting, the revision of tourist tariff to be effective from 1st July, 2009.
The tariff for peak months will be USD 250.00 per person per night with 10% agent’s commission. The tariff for the regular months will be USD 200.00 per night with 10% agent’s commission.
