A Record 21,094 Tourists Visited Bhutan in 2007

The previous year (2007) recorded a gross earning of about USD 24 million from the tourism industry with 21,094 tourists visiting Bhutan, 21.6% more than 2006, the highest ever.

The number is expected to increase in 2008 with 8,559 tourists already having visited Bhutan by April 2008.

Discover Bhutan – The Travel Magazine

The 100 glossy paged magazine aims to provide a platform for the tourism fraternity and the general public to highlight information and experiences, apart from enabling people to make the best choice of destination in Bhutan.

This story which appeared in Bhutan’s national newspaper Kuensel reports that Bhutan has recorded 21 new additional species, adding to its high floral and faunal diversity, according to officials of the nature conservation division.

With the additional species, the country has now recorded a total of 677 types of birds as of April 25, 2008.

To visit Bhutan as a tourist, you must book your tour through a local Bhutanese tour operator. Your tour operator will organize your trip, taking care of everything – including your Bhutanese visa, Druk Air tickets, guides, hotels, transport, permits, etc.

As of August 2009, there are 376 tour operators in Bhutan registered with the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), who are also members of the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO). Those tour operators who are registered with TCB but not with ABTO are not in this list.
