Other than Indian nationals, and Bangladeshi nationals, all visitors to Bhutan require a visa. Bhutanese visas are issued only from Thimphu.
Further, visas are only issued to tourists booked with a local licensed tour operator. Applications for tourist visas are processed by the tour operator on behalf of their tourist. Visa clearance from Thimphu must be obtained before coming to Bhutan. Visa clearance takes at least 10 days to process. Air tickets to Bhutan cannot be purchased without visa clearance. At your point of entry the visa will be stamped in your passport on payment of US$20, two passport photos will also be required. Visas are issued for a 15 day period. Extensions can be obtained in Thimphu at a cost of Nu. 510.

The most i like country is Bhutan.i love their way of living. and peacefull life. i love Bhutan people coz they love environment very much. and their simple life style.
I,m planning to visit bhutan, india and nepal this november, but i’m not sure what i need to do:
1. can i apply online for bhutan visa ?
2. i have india visa, can i use india visa to enter bhutan?
3. according the statement “Air tickets to Bhutan cannot be purchased without visa clearance” is that meant i need to apply visa before purchase a ticket?
4. i’ll be going to india first then stop at bhutan for few days. In that case do i need a medical certificate to apply the visa?
5. What document i need to prepare to apply visa?
6. how much is the processing fee will be charge?
@ marsha,
1: No you cannot apply online for a Bhutan Visa. You must travel to Bhutan through a registered Bhutanese tour operator, who will process your visa. (List of Bhutanese Tour Operators: http://bhutan-360.com/list-of-bhutanese-tour-operators/)
2: Indian visa is not valid in Bhutan. Bhutan is an independent country, very different from India.
3: You could buy an air ticket, but without a Bhutanese visa, you will not be allowed to board the aircraft.
4: A medical certificate is not necessary.
5: Since your Bhutanese tour operator will be processing your visa, the documents are at the desecration of your tour operator. But the minimum document required is an unexpired passport.
6: The visa processing fee is 20 USD.
Gelay,

To Yogesh and Raga,
It is advised you bring your passport or voter’s card. Your driving licence or PAN(Permanent Account No. Card) is not vaild. In India, any one can have such card made without any authenticity. Remember your entering a foreign land, therefore, one requires a valid travel document. Hope it clears your questions.
