Gangtey Goenpa Consecrated
His Majesty the fourth Druk Gyalpo and thousands of devotees celebrated the consecration of the restored Gangteng Goenpa (Gangtey Goenpa), an important centre of the Peling tradition and a landmark in Bhutan’s spiritual history.
The restoration work on the 395 year old Gangteng Sang Ngak Choling (popularly known as the Gangtey Goenpa) in Phobjikha valley has been completed, and an elaborate ceremonies for the consecration of the monastery has been planned.

Jakar Tshechu Rescheduled
The Jakar Tshechu in Bumthang, which was scheduled to be held from the 6 to 9 November, 2008 will be held from the 29 to 31 October, 2008. The original dates were found to be clashing with the Coronation Celebrations.
The coronation ceremony of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck will be held at the Tashichhodzong on the 8th Day of the 9th Bhutanese month of the Earth Male Rat year corresponding to November 6, 2008.
